Alison J. Barnstable, VMD

Dr. Barnstable is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She received her bachelor's degree with honors in Neuroscience from Brown University. She continued her education to receive her Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. While she enjoyed researching neurodegenerative diseases, she realized her true passion was veterinary medicine. While in veterinary school, she spent time working in developing countries to improve animal health and organized educational programs for Philadelphia school children on animal care and safety.

Dr. Barnstable has been part of Hickory Veterinary Hospital since June 2011. She splits her time between general medicine and emergency care. She believes that veterinary medicine is an integral part of a community. Her professional interests include wellness and preventive care, emergency medicine, and public health.

When not at the hospital, Dr. Barnstable enjoys spending time with her husband, young son, three cats, and timid dog. She also enjoys rowing, being outdoors, reading, and cooking.
