Doctor Profile

Debra Eisenstein, VMD
Dr. Eisenstein grew up in Bethlehem, PA and received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. After graduation from veterinary school she practiced in New Jersey for 1 year before moving with her husband to Ithaca, New York. While there, she continued working and honing her skills as a veterinarian in a busy general and specialty medicine and surgery practice. She joined the Hickory Veterinary Hospital team in 2008, after moving back to the Philadelphia area to be closer to family. Dr. Eisenstein’s clinical interest include a wide variety of areas encompassing all aspects of general practice in small animal medicine including wellness and preventive medicine, internal medicine concerns and endocrine diseases, as well as critical care and emergency medicine. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Eisenstein also earned a PhD in Genetics (Molecular Biology) from Harvard University and enjoys staying abreast of current research and literature in the field.
After returning to the area, her family settled in Abington, where she enjoys relaxing at home with her husband and their 3 adorable children. They share their house with 2 rambunctious Portuguese water dogs, 1 aging cat, 1 hamster, and numerous fish. When Dr. Eisenstein is not working, she is devoted to raising her 3 children, and in her “spare” time enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and doing anything outdoors.
