Nancy O. Brown

Licensed Occupational Therapist
Nancy O. Brown was previously the owner of Pennsylvania Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Associates at Hickory Veterinary Hospital and has passed down the legacy to her son, William Kay Jr. She is a graduate of Gettysburg College, The University of Southern California, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at The Animal Medical Center in New York City 1973-1974. After completing her surgical residency there in 1976 she remained as an associate staff member and consultant until 1990.

Dr. Brown also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery, Department of Clinical Studies, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania from 1982 to 1984. She is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida.

Dr. Brown has served on several committees within the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has held major chairs within the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. She was elected to the Board of Regents and served from 1994-1997.

Dr. Brown is the author of numerous articles and book chapters. She received the Award of Merit, University of Pennsylvania in 1984, Practitioner of the Year Northeast Region, American Animal Hospital Association in 1998, and the Practitioners Research Award from the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1990.

Dr. Brown is the wife of William J. Kay, DVM, DACVIM, DABVP and the mother of William J. Kay, Jr., 2014 graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brown’s hobbies include gardening, travel and reading.
